It's hard to find photgraphs of people playing bingo, as many halls don't let people take photographs - not everyone wants to be caught in the act of gambling! These pictures are therefore quite unusual. They were taken sometime in the 1980s at the bingo hall that was once the Granada Hove cinema, and captures a period when bnigo was maybe at its most popular. At the time, bingo halls were still very busy (even small clubs like this one), and the emphasis leaned more towards sociability rather than just winning money. Sadly, the advent of the National Lottery in the early 1990s changed all this, and many bingo clubs went down in quality in order to maximise their cash prizes. These photgraphs capture a lost world of bingo, where people went to have a laugh with their friends. Click here to start the journey through this lost world...
